Quality Takes Time

POSTED: 5th September 2024

First, I apologise for the lack of activity on the website. Things have been busier than anticipated.

I have been spending a lot of time working on a number of writing projects. If you’re someone who keeps tracks, has been anticipating the dates, and therefore noticed the delay…I apologise.

Of course, the great part about being a novice writer is that I have no dedicated readership. Well, at least no large one. Making my mark and releasing my work, my two novels that are in the final stage, will no doubt be a learning process. Like anything in life, I will have to learn, and develop my skills as this happens.

This said, I have to go off my current intuition and aim to get it as right as I can. If I don’t go off my own thoughts, I know that I will regret it.

Most importantly—I want to focus on quality.

It’s frustrating and part of me has nearly released one of my novels a number of times. I have had to hold myself back. Releasing initial work, for anyone who has spent time on a project, is obviously exciting. You want to get it out there, for people to (ideally) read, and learn from the comments and criticism.

I read some good advice that runs through my mind often. It is better to iron out the flaws and plot faults in the editing stage, as they will show, and the last thing you want is for these errors to be mentioned later on in the reviews and comments.

They say that a writer can never edit their own work. The author making any adjustments is known as a revision. This said—I have had a couple of others reading the final versions(s) of Prey to the Tide. This has been a catalyst for my writing skills and confidence, even if it takes some time.

I look forward to releasing Prey to the Tide shortly, with a focus on quality.
